What does this tool do?

Our OCR tool can use a URL or a link to an image from the internet or you can upload an image and the tool will extract the text for you.

The OCR tool will extract the text for you and also output a JSON string with the co-ordinates of the word as well as the confidence the app has of the word. The confidence rates how well the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) has identified the word. This rating is out of 100 - with 100 being the most confident. The confidence can be affected by the clarity of the image.

How does it work?

The OCR Tool uses an OCR API that we have also built. An API is a web service that allows web sites, apps and all sorts of different programs to exchange information. The API was built to allow the tool to be expanded.

The OCR API will be released to the public soon so you can use it for your own tools or apps. Yes! There will be a free version so you can use it commercially free of charge. We are working on some extra options at the moment but this will be available in March of 2020.

How much does the OCR tool cost?

Our OCR tool is completely free! No credit cards or accounts required. You can use it as much as you like (some rate limits may apply) with out any cost. You can even use the OCR Tool for your business at no cost.

What's next?

We have a list of extra's we are adding to the tool.

• The tool will be able to decode a PDF - currently the OCR only works for images.
• Multiple languages - currently we only support English but will add more soon.
• Downloadable PDF - the tool will produce a PDF of the image that can be searched. This is great for saving onto your computer and searching text later.
• Export OCR text to Word, Excel
• Learning AI - upload your own invoices or templates that you need to de-code often and the OCR AI will learn these for more accurate and faster decoding in the future.
